Tabula Rasa

13 June 2018

On Wednesday 13 June, Ezio Ferreri’s “Tabula Rasa” opens as a major photographic exhibition across two venues, with two opening events: at 5:30 pm at Galleria X3, Via Catania 35, and at 9:00 pm at Magazzini, Via Alloro 129. The exhibition is a collateral event of MANIFESTA 12, the European Nomadic Biennial of Contemporary Art.

Curated by Ida Parlavecchio and Emilia Valenza, the exhibition presents a body of photographs in formats ranging from 35×70 to 100×200 cm, taken across the Sicilian provinces. It is a journey through urban and suburban landscapes marked by uncontrolled, excessive and unjustified private construction. From the 1960s onward, the abandonment of the countryside for industrial work on the Italian mainland, together with the economic boom, rapidly transformed Sicilian society and reshaped the island’s urban landscape.

Selected as part of Manifesta’s collateral programme, the exhibition is open with free admission until 4 November 2018 at two venues in Palermo: Galleria X3, Via Catania 35, and Magazzini, Via Alloro 129.
